The Pompeians. Sextus Pompey. 42-38 BC. Æ As (29mm, 12.74 g, 12h). Uncertain Sicilian mint. Laureate head of Janus with the features of Cn. Pompeius Magnus / Prow of quinquereme right. Crawford 479/1; Martini, Sextus Pompeius, Em. III, Group 1, Serie D, 457 (D6/R75) = CNR 35/1 (this coin); CRI 336; Sydenham 1044; RPC 671. Good VF, attractive green patina. Great portrait coin for Pompey the Great.
